Naksa Day Tatreez Workshop: Stitching Memoir, Identity, and Resistance
Naksa Day Tatreez Workshop: Stitching Memoir, Identity, and Resistance
In collaboration with PYM Houston, we welcome you to a special kind of event: Naksa Day Tatreez Workshop!
Come learn, create, and reflect as we honor the resilience of Palestinian identity through this ancestral craft.
On June 5th, we remember the 1967 Naksa, the “setback” that marked the Zionist occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem — furthering the displacement of Palestinians from their homeland that was at an earlier height during the Nakba, the “catastrophe”.
We will learn the art of Tatreez and how the language of this craft changed after 1967 and onwards. A beginners Tatreez workshop will be followed after an educational session on the 1967 Naksa. No prior experience is needed! All materials are included with registration.
Through the art of tatreez, we reclaim our heritage and resist, thread by thread.
We look forward to seeing you all there! Register now as spots are limited!
